What I worked on

Banyan was my first founding-designer role. I joined when there was no UI to speak of and helped shape the product strategy alongside the founders. Over two years I designed the surfaces for multiple cloud-security services — posture management, identity, runtime protection — and got each from whiteboard to shipped.

What I am proud of

Designed and open-sourced Roots, the design system that powered the entire product. Working closely with engineering so the system was true to the code, not just a Figma artifact.

Translated dense security concepts into screens that operators could trust. Security tools fail when they overwhelm — every layout was an exercise in restraint, every default chosen carefully.

Held the line on quality at MVP pace — the kind of design hygiene most early-stage products give up on under deadline pressure.

Key metrics

MVP of the cloud security suite

Conceived multiple security services from concept to implementation, working alongside founders and a small engineering team.

Roots Design System

Built the design system as Figma library + React components, then open-sourced it as Roots — used internally and beyond the company.

"I have not worked with another designer who can hold both the system and the surface in their head at the same time. Alok built the foundation the rest of us were able to build on."
